The Curitibanos Campus’ Agriculture Program encompasses 10 semesters of study which are structured in different modules. The first two years comprise the basic knowledge module, which covers general courses in Sociology, Calculus, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and more specific courses such as Botany, Plant Physiology, Plant and Animal Morphology, Culture Production Technologies, Soil Science, Topography and Technical Drawing, and courses focused on sustainable production and development. The following three years comprise the professional knowledge module, including essential and specific courses in the field of Agriculture, such as Plant Science, Plant Health, Soil Conservation and Management, Crop Production and Management, and Animal Science. This allows for graduates to work in supervision, coordination, planning, assistance, advice, consultancy, inspection, investigation, and other demands in the fields of Rural and Agricultural Engineering, Soil Science, Food Science and Technology, Plant Science, Integrated Management of Pests and Diseases, Animal Sciences, Forest Sciences, Sustainable Development and Rural Outreach.

The agricultural engineer graduated from UFSC (Curitibanos Campus) will be able to:
(i) participate in and coordinate the solution of problems in a critical and creative manner, taking into account their social, economical, political, environmental and cultural aspects, outlined by humanist and ethical principles;
(ii) communicate with farmers and rural populations, respecting and valuing their knowledge and practices of plant cultivation, domestication. traditional knowledge, food production, among others;
(iii) defend social, economical, cultural and environmental principles that enable sustainability, with the understanding of agriculture as one dimension of the natural and human environment;
(iv) work autonomously and collectively in an interdisciplinary field, prioritizing quality at all stages of production, and to absorb and develop technologies;
(v) propose and participate in proposals which consider the sustainable land development, as premises of innovation and of technical, scientific and sociocultural actions.
Classes are held from Monday to Friday during day period, eventually in the evenings, and on Saturday mornings.
